Part 6

"Sonny, you won't believe it!"  Emily whispered into her phone.

"What won't I believe?  And why are you whispering?" was Sonny's cranky reply.

  "Mark's sleeping on my couch."

  "I believe that."  Sonny retorted.

"No, I'm whispering because he's sleeping.  Sheesh you're cranky in the morning!"

"I haven't had my caffeine fix yet." was Sonny's reply.  "So, go on, tell me what I won't believe."

"Well, as you know, Mark and I have been seeing quite a bit of each other."  Emily thought back over the past six months and their many dates.

Their first date, where they talked for hours, laughing and joking.

The time she got lost while trying to find Mark at a Venue.

Mark ended up meeting her in the lobby.

The date where they met up at a Cowboy bar, and Emily just had to try riding the bull.

The time they just walked around town, hand in hand,

or just at down and watched the stars together.

   They played pool.

She remembered the lunch date that had started off disastrous.  She had invited Mark over to her place for lunch.  She was going to fix a salad, she figured she couldn't mess that up too badly.  Unfortunately, Mark came over just as the Repo man did.

That was so embarrassing!  Her cheeks burned just thinking about it!

Mark had taken it in stride, though, and had even made lunch for her!

She frowned though, when she remembered how the fates had seemed to be against her that day.  Her sink broke, which Mark fixed.

Then her toilet was plugged up, Mark fixed that as well.

But the worst moment, was when Emily decided to cook them dinner, and accidentally caught Mark on fire.

Thankfully Mark was a fast runner and made it to the shower before getting hurt.  They also had their first really serious talk.  Emily was NOT to cook for them for as long as they were together.  Mark would do all the cooking.

The whole date had been a nightmare, but the ending had made it all worth while.

    Her very first kiss!

Emily smiled to herself, and then Sonny interrupted her reverie.   "Go on."  Sonny yawned.  Emily rolled her eyes.  "Stop that Em!" Sonny ordered.  "I don't have to see you to know you're rolling your eyes at me.  You know I'm not human until at least 10 am!"

"Well,"  Emily paused, and then said in a rush, "Mark said that cheapie couch I found in the dumpster, ssh! don't tell him where I got it!, is really starting to hurt his back.  So he said he was going to buy me a new couch!  Except he didn't stop there!  He redid the whole house!  It's beautiful Sonny!  He says he needs his creature comforts when he's staying with me.  You have to come over and check it out!  Oh, and we're going out to Mike's to sing Karaoke tonight,  do you want to meet us there?"

"Sure that sounds like fun!  I'll meet you there."

Emily was in a grand mood all day long, she practiced her singing in the shower, outside, and while listening to her favorite songs.  Mark's songs, of course.  (Mark had made breakfast, ate, gave her a quick kiss and said he's see her later.  He had some things to take care of. )

Mick's was pretty busy, but she didn't let that bother her.  Her voice was all warmed up, she was ready to sing the night away.  She waved hello to Sonny and her daughter, grabbed Mark's arm and led him to the karaoke machine.

The sight of the paparazzi intimidated her for a moment.

But she quickly forgot about him as she got into the song.  She sang the song with great gusto!

When the song was finished, Mark surprised Emily by dropping down to one knee.

Her eyes were wide as saucers.  "Emily, will you do the honor of marrying me?"  Emily was absolutely speechless.

She could hear her friend in the background yelling, "She says yes!"

Emily blushed.  "Yes!  I would love to marry you!"  Mark slipped the ring on her finger.
